Guide 2: Configure Your Tank
In this guide we will configure your tank settings and explain what each option does, so your water level readings are accurate.
You can change these settings in two places: on the hub's own web page, which works on your Wi-Fi even without internet, or in the TankSync app. Both change the same settings.
Open Your Tank's Settings
On the hub's web page: open the address shown on the hub's display, go to the Devices tab, and tap Edit next to your tank.
In the app: tap your tank, then tap Edit at the top right.
Tank Name and Capacity
Start by entering a name for your tank. This can be anything, such as Overhead Tank or Sump.
Next, enter your tank's total capacity in litres. TankSync uses it to show your water in litres, so use the figure on your tank or its bill.
Full and Empty Distance
Now enter the two calibration distances, in centimetres. These determine how TankSync calculates your water level, so a measuring tape is the easiest way to get accurate values. Measure from the sensor face, the flat round end that points down at the water.
- Distance when full is the gap between the sensor face and the water when the tank is full.
- Distance when empty is the distance from the sensor face to the bottom of the tank.
The sensor cannot measure anything closer than 25 cm. Keep at least 25 cm between the sensor face and the highest water level, so your distance when full should be 25 cm or more. If the water comes closer than that, TankSync treats the tank as full.

Sleep Interval
This is how often the tank unit wakes to send a reading. We recommend the default of 300 seconds, or one update every five minutes.
You can reduce this to 60 seconds if you need faster updates, but shorter intervals use more battery.
Advanced Settings
Sensor samples is how many measurements the tank unit takes each time it wakes. Leave it at its default.
LoRa power only applies to LoRa tank units. It is set to the maximum by default. Leave it there unless we ask you to change it.
If you see a Sensor choice, leave it on Keep current.
Alert Levels
In the app you can also set a Low water (%) and a High water (%) level for each tank, under Alert thresholds. These decide when your phone gets a low water or near-overflow alert. The hub's buzzer uses its own fixed levels, covered in Hub Settings.
Saving Changes
When you're finished, tap Save device on the hub's web page, or Save changes in the app.
The name, capacity and distances take effect straight away, because the hub does the calculation. The sleep interval, sensor samples and LoRa power are sent to the tank unit the next time it wakes. To send them now, tap the tank unit's touch pad. No other steps are needed.

Your TankSync configuration is now complete. Return to the hub or the app to watch your tank level, battery and system health.
