Guide 6 of 10About 3 min to read

In this guide we will link your TankSync hub to your cloud account, so you can securely check your tanks from anywhere.

Before continuing, make sure you have created your TankSync account (Cloud Setup) and your hub is connected to your Wi-Fi with internet access (First-Time Setup).

1

Open the TankSync App

Open the app on your phone and sign in. If this is your first hub, tap Set up a Hub. If you've added a hub before, tap the + button at the top right and choose Another Hub.

2

Choose How to Connect

Tap I already have a Hub on my network. This is the option to use when your hub is already on your Wi-Fi.

If your hub is not on Wi-Fi yet, choose Set Up a New Hub instead. The app then walks you through joining the hub's TankSync network and choosing your home Wi-Fi.

3

Find Your Hub's Device ID

On a laptop, tablet or second phone on the same Wi-Fi, open the hub's web page using the address shown on the hub's display.

Open the Cloud tab. You'll see your hub's Device ID and a QR code to scan with the TankSync app.

4

Scan the QR Code

In the app, tap Scan QR with camera. Allow camera access if asked, then point your camera at the QR code on the hub's web page. The app fills in the Device ID and checks your hub automatically.

5

Or Enter the Device ID

If you can't scan the QR code, type the 12-character Device ID exactly as shown on the Cloud tab, then tap Check Receiver.

Only one phone? Open the hub's web page on it, tap Copy next to the Device ID, then switch to the app and paste it in.

6

Link the Hub

Once the app has found your hub, give it a name, such as Home or Rooftop, and tap Link this Receiver to my account (or Link this hub). Your hub is now tied to your TankSync account. You only do this once.

If the app says Almost there — one tap to finish, stay on the same Wi-Fi as the hub and tap Open hub & connect. The hub's page opens with everything filled in: tap Save & connect. On Android, type the hub's address from its display into the box first.

7

Your Tanks

The app then offers to pair a tank. If you already paired your tank unit at the hub, tap Skip — I'll pair later.

Tanks already paired with the hub appear in the app on their own after their next reading. Tap the tank unit's touch pad to send one now.

8

Verify the Connection

Return to the main dashboard. Within a few seconds your hub and tanks will appear, with the current water level, battery and signal.

Troubleshooting

If your hub isn't detected:

  • Check that the hub is powered and connected to the internet. Once linked, its Cloud tab says Linked.
  • Check the Device ID for typing mistakes.
  • The QR code on the Cloud tab needs an internet connection to appear. If it doesn't load, enter the Device ID instead.
  • If the app says the hub is linked to another account, the previous owner needs to unlink it first. They can do this from the hub's Cloud tab.

If you still can't connect, email support@smartghar.org.
